Overview

American Greetings is recruiting for a Senior Java Developer to join the Information Services Division at our world headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.

Will work with a team of developers that support the enhancement and maintenance of Java/J2EE-based Internet and Intranet business applications. Applications cover various business disciplines such as B2B, manufacturing, sales, order processing, content management and 3rd party packaged solutions. This individual will be required to be a hands-on developer and to help mentor and develop junior team members.
Will provide technology leadership for application development utilizing JBoss Technologies. Provide design and implementation leadership on both new and existing custom development efforts, packaged product implementations and system integrations. Will be asked to participate with the refinement and development of current Java/J2EE standards, frameworks and testing methodologies to improve operational processes and to support new project development.

Candidate is required to have 4-5 years of hands-on experience with:
Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Object Oriented Programming, J2EE/Java/JSP/Servlet/AJAX Application Development, experienced with Eclipse IDE development environment. Must have experience and an understanding of how to implement applications using Model-View-Presenter (MVP), Model View and Controller (MVC) utilizing the standard frameworks, and must have a working knowledge of the Hibernate technology for persistence management. The candidate must also be able to demonstrate competence with UML (Use case diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams and class diagrams) along with having working knowledge of both Waterfall and AGILE software development lifecycle approaches. The candidate will be expected to communicate with technical staff and various business clients to aide in the gathering of new requirements and to identify root cause of application issues.

Candidate must have the ability to multi-task and should have 2-3 years minimum experience in a Sr. technical role that required the need to work with teams in the area of UML, OOP, system development, and Java/J2EE-related technologies. Future efforts will also likely involve the implementation, integration and maintenance of packaged products beyond the support of custom solutions, so the candidate must have good general technical engineering skills, strong technical aptitude, and a desire for such flexibility.

Ideal candidate will possess the Sun Certified Developer certification and one of the advanced Sun certifications. (Sun Certified Web Component Developer, Sun Certified Business Component Developer, Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services, or Sun Certified Enterprise Architect)
